Legislator Reed Cleland (he/him) represents Legislative District 10, which encompasses most of the Village and Town of Homer. He was elected to his first four-year term in November 2023.
A 20-year resident of the Village of Homer, Reed graduated in 2018 from the Homer Central School District and holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Colgate University. He is currently earning a Master’s in Public Administration (M.P.A.) at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs.
In the Cortland County Legislature, Reed is the Vice Chair of the Agriculture, Planning, & Environment (A.P.E.) Committee. He serves on the Health & Human Services (H.H.S.) and Highway Committees. He also represents the County Legislature on the Cortland County Youth Advisory Board and the Central New York Regional Planning & Development Board (CNYRPDB).
Reed is an active member of several volunteer boards and community organizations. He sits on the Cortland Repertory Theatre Board of Directors and the Cortland ReUse Board of Directors. He teaches martial arts classes at Bailey’s Karate School, and he has worked as a Substitute Teacher in several school districts and OCM BOCES. Reed enjoys long walks around the Village of Homer with his dogs, Gia and Phoebe.
